KOTA BHARU METTARAMA MEDITATION CENTRE

Kelantan

The Kota Bharu Mettarama Meditation Centre was started about 15 years ago, and was registered as a Society in August 2004. The Centre is located at No. 3183-N, 1st Floor, Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra, Wakaf Siku, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, and is maintained by about 50 members.

The Centre offers a range of activities to promote happiness, wellbeing and health within the context of the Buddhist core values of generosity, kindness and awareness. Amongst these activities are meditation, Pali Sutta chanting, and Dhamma talks by visiting monks and speakers. Talks have been given by the late Chief Reverend Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda, Ajahn Brahmavanso, Luang Phor Liem, Luang Phor Khun, Dr. Dhamma Ratana Tan and many other learned Dhamma speakers, including many monks from Thailand. The Centre’s members also visit temples near Kota Bharu during the months of Vassa for dana.

Other aims of the Centre’s members are to offer the opportunity to the local Buddhist community to learn, study and practice the Buddha’s teachings in the Theravada tradition. Spiritual development through meditation is encouraged. The Centre also provides shelter for visiting monks.

With this, it is hoped that the efforts of the Kota Bharu Mettarama Meditation Centre in nurturing the teachings of the Buddha to the local community can help the Buddhist Sasana to grow and prosper in this small town of Kota Bharu.
